Changes to Federal Family Law Legislation in 2020

Changes are being made to the Divorce Act; the Family Orders and Agreements Enforcement Assistance Act; and the Garnishment, Attachment and Pension Diversion Act in 2020.

The Department of Justice has published an overview of these changes.

An article in Canadian Lawyer Magazine titled “New year, new family law for Canadians” by Bernise Carolino describes some of the changes to the Divorce Act, which come into effect July 1, 2020.
